The best time to start searching for a pediatrician is in the weeks before your expected due date, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Your pediatrician can give information about any other area of concern you might have as a parent-to-be. Medicare pays 100% of the cost for this exam with no out-of-pocket expense to you. This is not a physical exam but is an extended visit with your doctor to create a personalized wellness plan. At this visit, if we need to address other medical concerns (like a sore knee or other medical conditions), we want you to know you may have a deductible or copay. To prepare for this visit, please bring all medications, vitamins, inhalers, injectables, supplements and topical creams you are using so we can update your records.

It is best to have a trusted doctor you can see regularly, especially when you have a symptom that could mean illness; to manage a chronic or ongoing condition such as diabetes; to check on the effects of a new medicine; to help with risk factors such as smoking or obesity; for lifestyle issues such as family planning or prevention of sexually transmitted diseases; or for prenatal care, if you are pregnant.
