Job Summary

Baptist Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at our Baptist South location. This is a PRN position. This Registered Nurse position has a call requirement, and it is self-scheduled based on department needs and will require a 40-minute call response time. This role qualifies for competitive differentials and additional call compensation. 

 

As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, your daily respsonsibilities will include monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia. This position also requires treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia and administering medication a prescribed. To ensure a smooth recovery, an RN in this position will also regularly check vital signs to quickly interept any potential issues. Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care as well as updating charts, patient files, and medical records will be an importnat aspect of this role. 

 

As a RN in the PACU your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement organization. 
  • Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services. 
  • Including patients and significant other (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care.
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care 
  • Coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case. 
  • This position requires call rotation.
