Job Summary

Participates in maintaining a safe, calm environment for their patient by providing continuous observation of patient safety and reporting any changes to the nurse. Provides line of sight or one to one close observation level of patient monitoring, direct patient care to include patient engagement, immediate intervention to ensure patient safety, de-escalation of patient agitation or aggressive behavior, patient escort or take-down, and patient restraint securement as needed. Part of the health care team who shares in the reorienting and diversional care of the patient by providing companionship such as engaging in conversation and/or reading to the patient. They will stay with their patient for the duration of their shift and accompany their patient off the unit for tests and procedures. Cert Note: Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) required to be obtained within 90 days from the date of hire.
