Baptist Medical Center Nassau Recognized by Vizient as 2024 Birnbaum Quality Leadership Top Performer

Baptist Nassau has been recognized as a top performer in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Study. The honor is based on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and equity of care.

Baptist Nassau was one of 28 hospitals in the community hospital category and was recognized for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005.

“I am immensely proud of our Baptist Nassau team members and physicians,” said Hospital President Tara Beth Anderson. “This is a great recognition of our hospital’s continuous efforts to provide top-quality patient care.” In addition to this award, Baptist Nassau has received an “A” in patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, the highest rating, for 13 consecutive seasons, consistently demonstrating its commitment to excellent care

This year, 860 participating hospitals were segmented into four cohorts for the study. The study factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance data from the HCAHPS survey and the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network.

The study helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The recognition period is for work spanning July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.
