New Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Baptist Clay allows heart patients to regain strength and cardiovascular health close to home
Clay County residents recovering from a heart issue can get the services they need at Baptist Medical Center Clay with the opening of the new Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.
Located adjacent to the hospital at Baptist HealthPlace at Fleming Island, 2310 Village Square Parkway, Suite 102B, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is a 2,400-square-foot center with an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment for heart patients to regain their health.
Baptist Clay’s cardiac rehabilitation program is conducted in a group setting of up to 10 patients. During each supervised session, patients' heart rate, blood pressure and EKG are continuously monitored. Patients are re-assessed at each session for signs and symptoms of cardiac issues as well as medication compliance. Education is a large part of the cardiac rehab program. Patients learn about their personal risk factors for heart disease and dealing with the emotional ups and downs of recovery. Physicians, dietitians, nurses, and clinical exercise physiologists all work together to provide an individual treatment plan for each patient.
Patients can attend Baptist Clay’s Cardiac Rehab Center with a qualifying diagnosis (such as open-heart surgery, heart failure, peripheral artery disease, or chronic stable angina, among others.) A physician may submit a referral to Baptist Health’s Central Scheduling department at 904.202.4200. Patients are typically seen for 36 visits over 12 weeks.
“Local residents no longer have to travel out of the area to get high-quality cardiac rehab services,” said Hospital President Ed Hubel. “Providing this service close to home will, hopefully, accelerate patients’ recovery so they can get back to doing what they enjoy.”
