Stan Friedman joined Baptist Health in 2024 and serves as a chaplain at the Nassau campus.

Born in St. Louis, Stan holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and a Master of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. This made him a Cardinals fan living among Cubs supporters. Stan is an award-winning journalist, who wrote for newspapers and magazines such as "Christian Century" and "Christianity Today." He was ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church and pastored several churches in the denomination before serving as its lead writer for 17 years. During that time, he reported from South Sudanese refugee camps, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mexico and a remote Alaskan fishing village on the Bering Sea coast.

Stan subsequently pursued healthcare ministry and did his clinical pastoral education at Naples Community Hospital where he later served as a staff chaplain. He also ministered with Vitas hospice.

He has two adult children, three adult step-children, and five grandchildren. After being widowed in 2000, he’s been involved with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Stan is a fledgling hiker, who has trekked the American Southwest and Yosemite National Park - his favorite spots - as well as Costa Rica. Stan is a quite average guitarist, keeps fish for pets, (which he prefers because he doesn't have to walk them) and has a collection of houseplants gradually spreading throughout his apartment. Although aspiring to live according to high moral standards, he can be bribed with good barbecue.
