Job Summary
The Manager of Benefits is responsible for administering the Baptist Health, Health and Welfare programs. Manages the benefits team ensuring the day-to-day administration of the benefits programs is accurate and timely. The Manager will ensure all programs are compliant with all federal and state regulations as defined in the policies and procedures. Partners with external benefit consultants and internal departments. Multitasking, organization, delegation, and meeting deliverables are key for success in this role. Integral part of Total Rewards leadership team, reporting to the Director of Benefits.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Administration
- Manages the implementation, communication, and administration of Baptist Health and Welfare programs.
- Ability to clearly communicate benefit programs at all levels of the organization.
- Collaborates with external benefit consultants and internal Baptist Health departments to administer programs.
- Manages the prioritization and sequencing of daily activities of team, ensuring weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual deadlines are met.
- Serves as subject matter expert (SME) coordinating educational activities, including orientation, open enrollment communications, etc. coordinating these activities with other stakeholders within Baptist Health.
- Supports team member well-being initiatives across the organization.
- Manages absence management administration.
- Audits HR system health and welfare programming.
- Manage annual open-enrollment processes.
Compliance
- Identifies, escalates, and seeks resolution on issues in partnership with the Director of Benefits.
- Adheres to all benefit policies, procedures, and documents.
- Administers benefit program in compliance with all governmental regulations (ex. ERISA, DOL, IRS, ADA).
- Ensures documentation of team processes.
Fiscal Responsibility
- Manages vendor invoicing to ensure timely and accurate payment.
- Audit benefit program file feeds for participation counts, employer and employee payroll deductions.
- Provides cost data in preparation for annual budgeting process.
Hybrid Work Schedule:
- 3 days per week in the office
- 2 days per week working from home (WFH)

Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years' experience in benefits OR 10+ years of direct experience in Benefits.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration required.
- Experience in working with healthcare insurance providers, brokers, and other vendors preferred.
- Workday Experience preferred.
Required Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 tools.
- Familiarity with analytical and research tools, as needed for business requirements.
Skills:
- Solid foundational knowledge of comprehensive health and welfare programs with ability to communicate clearly through written and verbal communication.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skill capabilities.
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate at all organizational levels and work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond to resolve issues.
- Builds and maintains strong positive relationships at all levels across the organization.
- Possess formal presentation skills and written communication skills.
