Baptist Medical Center is looking to add a Histotechnologist to our Laboratory department at Baptist Medical Center for our Peak Staffing (Internal Traveler) Program located in Jacksonville, Florida.This is a part-time opportunity (various shifts). A typical schedule for this Histotechnologist working 24 hours per week is three 8 hour shifts or four 6 hour shift. Hours are dependant upon the departmental need. 

This position is a key component of Baptist Medical Center's esteemed Internal Traveler Program, offering a 12-week contract. This position is eligible to renew their contract after 12 weeks for up to two contracts in total.

This Histotechnologist will be responsible for the following:

• Performs all technical aspects of Histology including: embedding; microtomy; routine and special stains; maintenance of all equipment; tissue processors; microtomes; cryostats; automated stainers; and coverslipper.
• Filing of slides and blocks.
• Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting.
• Handles all specimens knowledgably by consulting with the pathologist.

License note: This candidate must be licensed or be able to obtain a license as a Histotechnologist in the State of Florida before hire.

• 1-2 years Experience in a Histology Lab
• Research Lab Experience
• Medical Technology Experience

License and Certification

• Certified Histotechnician (HT) Preferred
• Certified Medical Technologist (MT) Preferred
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Preferred
• Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) Preferred
• Licensed Histotechnologist Required
