Job Summary

Baptist Medical Center is currently looking for a Histotechnologist to join our Histology Lab at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. This is a part-time opportunity (various shifts). A typical schedule for this Histotechnologist working 24 hours per week is three 8 hour shifts or four 6 hour shift. Hours are dependant upon the departmental need. 

This candidate must have comprehensive knowledge within a Histology lab and at least 1-2 years of experience working in either a research or histology lab. Medical Technology experience is also required. This candidate must be licensed or able to obtain a license as a Histotechnologist in the State of Florida before hire. 

As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for: 

  • Performing all technical aspects of Histology including embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains
  • Maintenance of all equipment - tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers, and coverslipper.
  • Filing of slides and blocks
  • Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting
  • Handling all specimens knowledgeably by consulting with the pathologist
