Job Summary

We are looking for a Safety Specialist to join our Baptist Nassau team. This is a full-time, primarily days, Monday though Friday, opportunity that may require an evening or night shift, depending on organizational needs.

Shift Details: The Safety Specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise to team members, develops, implements, and managing the day to day functions of Emergency Management, Safety/Environment of Care programs, and monitoring Life Safety program within the hospital/healthcare setting including freestanding Emergency Department.

Security Specialist General Responsibiilities:

  • Writing and establishing required EC/LS & EM policies. 
  • Setting up and conducting EOC rounding and tracking follow up.
  • Conducting all fire drills.
  • Creating a Fire Extinguisher matrix/inventory and conducting monthly/annual inspections.
  • Establishing fire safety training and department plans.
  • Establishing an evacuation plan.
  • Writing and implementing the following: Emergency Operations Plan, Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) and a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
  • Conducting EM training and drills.
  • Participating in the community and region EM planning activities.

Education Required

High School Diploma/GED

Education Preferred

Bachelor's Degree

Experience

  • 1-2 years Healthcare Experience Required
  • 1-2 years Emergency Management Experience Required

License and Certification

  • Certified Healthcare Safety (CHSP) Required
  • Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) Required
  • Driver's License Required
