Job Summary

Baptist Health is hiring a Sr. Infection Preventionist to join the Infection Prevention team.  This is a full-time, in-person opportunity located at Baptist Nassau.

The Infection Preventionist (IP) demonstrates knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) through certification and applies their knowledge and experience to guide practice while learning more advanced concepts. The IP is responsible for collaborating to develop, implement and sustain effective IPC strategies. Leadership: Implements and monitors IPC program and practices. Collaborates to align IPC program goals with organizational goals. Provides mentorship to IPs and seeks mentorship from experienced IPs.

Infection Prevention & Control Operations: Applies epidemiologic principles and uses appropriate benchmarks. Evaluates the significance of surveillance and investigational findings to make recommendations for improvement. Evaluates the effectiveness of surveillance plans and modifies as necessary. Creates education program(s) to meet the needs and learning styles of the audience.  Conducts IPC assessments and/or rounding and communicates findings and recommendations.

Infection Prevention & Control Informatics: Uses technology to identify disease and illness trends. Validates systems to ensure accurate data. Utilizes applicable reporting systems as required. Performs data management, analysis, and visualization.

Quality Improvement: Participates with analysis to identify system failure elements and areas of improvement. Uses data and statistical techniques to describe data, calculate risk-adjusted rates and establish benchmarks. Evaluates findings and make recommendations for improvement. Performs risk assessments and develops action plans that include goals and measurable objectives.

Professional Stewardship: Collaborates with internal and/or external partners to promote health and positive clinical outcomes for the larger community and continuum of care. Research: Review research findings to determine whether to implement findings. Participates and may lead research and quality improvement projects. Disseminates relevant research findings through practice, education, and/or consultation.

Experience

  • 3-5 Years Related Experience Preferred
  • 1-2 years Infection Prevention Experience Required
  • Experience leading/co-chairing a TF or IP related facility or system initiative

License and Certification

  • Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) Required
  • Associate Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) Certification Required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Preferred
  • CPHQ certification is Preferred
