Baptist Health CEO appointed to American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board
Brett McClung, FACHE, will help foster communication, providing input on public policy issues unique to the Southeastern U.S. region

Brett McClung, FACHE, president and CEO of Baptist Health, has been appointed as a state delegate of Regional Policy Board for Region 4 (Southeastern United States) with the American Hospital Association (AHA). The AHA is the national organization that represents hospitals and health care networks throughout the U.S. and serves their patients and communities through advocacy, representation, knowledge exchange, and thought leadership. The appointment is effective through 2024.
A total of nine AHA Regional Policy Boards provide input on public policy issues considered by the Board of Trustees, serve on policy development committees when appropriate, and identify needs unique to a region to assist in developing programs that meet those needs.
“I look forward to working alongside other delegates in considering policies that further stabilize our vital and dynamic industry following the pandemic,” said Brett McClung, FACHE, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “I am energized about improving access to health care, and positively impacting the health of all who live in our region.”
Since becoming president and CEO of Baptist Health on July 1, 2019, McClung has led the health system through notable accomplishments, including top rankings from U.S. News & World Report; national recognition from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for continued commitment to LGBT+-inclusive health care; straight As from the Leapfrog Group for the highest quality and safety rankings; inclusion on Becker’s Top 100 Great Hospitals list; the highest honor for Stroke Gold Plus hospitals for comprehensive stroke care; and the development of the health system’s innovative 5-point strategy.
With McClung’s appointment, Baptist Health joins nine health systems representing Florida on the policy board, including:
