Baptist Health welcomes new board members and chairs for system, Baptist Nassau and Wolfson Children’s Hospital
New appointments reflect diversity of skill, knowledge and backgrounds in support of Baptist Health’s locally governed, locally owned philosophy.

Baptist Health is pleased to announce the newest officers and members to the boards of directors for the health system, Baptist Medical Center Nassau and Wolfson Children's Hospital, adding a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience.
"As the only locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health care system in Northeast Florida, we value the diversity of skill, knowledge, talent and backgrounds that our volunteer board members bring to our organization," said Michael A. Mayo, DHA, FACHE, president and CEO of Baptist Health. "As members of the communities we serve, they volunteer their time and expertise to help us improve access to high-quality care and ensure we are prepared to meet future health needs in the region."
The newly appointed board members and officers, summarized below, will serve three-year terms.
Baptist Health
Joe Louis Barrow Jr. and Deborah Pass Durham were announced as the new chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Baptist Health board of directors on March 24, 2022.
Baptist Health is welcoming two new members to its system board of directors.
Michael Diaz. Diaz is a co-founder and CFO of St. Augustine Distillery Company and chairman of FabTech Supply. He previously served as chief operating officer of Black Diamond Performance Reporting, and in multiple executive positions with Acosta Sales and Marketing, Inc. He is a certified public accountant with a master's degree from the University of Florida. He also currently serves as chair of the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville board.
Kyle Etzkorn, MD, FACP, CPI, gastroenterologist, has been named as a new board member. After completing his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center/MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Etzkorn completed an advanced fellowship in hepato-biliary medicine at the University of Illinois Hospital. After training, he remained on the faculty as acting director of the GI endoscopy lab. He joined Borland Groover in 1996 and is now CEO. Dr. Etzkorn was the Chief of GI at Baptist Health, is currently on the Baptist Jacksonville board and has been the chairman of the Baptist Continuing Medical Education committee for more than a decade.
Baptist Medical Center Nassau
Karen Hackett and Jodi H. Henson have been named as the new chair and vice chair of the Baptist Nassau board of directors.
Chair -- Karen Hackett. Hackett is the retired CEO of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Prior to this position, she held the position of EVP and COO of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has also been VP of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council, and has previous health care provider and consulting experience. In 2011 she was inducted into the University of Central Florida's College of Business Hall of Fame, and received the Lewis University Alumni Achievement Award in the field of Business. In 2017, she received the Medical Society Executive Lifetime Achievement award from the American Medical Association. She holds an MBA from Lewis University and a BSBA from the University of Central Florida. She also serves on the board and volunteers at Baptist Nassau. She is replacing Jon Lasserre.
Vice Chair -- Jodi Henson. Henson is a business consultant and entrepreneur. As an advisor with the Florida SBDC (Small Business Development Center), she consults with existing and prospective small business owners in northeast Florida. She is a founder of The Softer Side of Success, an organization that helps women pursue their small business dreams, enables them to become successful entrepreneurs and helps them start and grow their businesses. She is replacing Karen Hackett.
Wolfson Children's Hospital
The only children's hospital in the region is welcoming two new members to its board.
Nelrae Pasha Ali. Ali is a dedicated professional senior financial advisor at Wells Fargo who has spent 20 years in the financial industry helping clients pursue their goals and financial objectives. She graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Management with a concentration in Economics and Finance. She also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ CRPC® accreditation from the College for Financial Planning.
Kevin Boone. Boone is executive vice president of sales and marketing at CSX. He oversees the company's growth strategies as well as customer service, customer engagement and business development activities. Previously, he was EVP and CFO, and joined CSX as vice president of Corporate Affairs and chief investor relations officer. Prior to joining CSX, he spent 18 years in the investment industry, specializing in finance, accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and transportation performance analysis. Boone earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Florida and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
