Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in beautiful Northeast Florida is actively seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our growing Urologic Oncology and Urology Team. Previous surgical experience is preferred but not required. The position focuses on urologic oncology. The candidate will become an integral team member and provide a high level of cancer care for urologic malignancies both in and outside the operating room.

Job Summary 

We seek an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in our Urology Oncology program in Jacksonville, FL. Urologic Oncology is a subspecialty of Urology that focuses on the surgical and medical care of several cancers (prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, adrenal). A candidate will collaborate with attending physicians to provide advanced clinical care. Responsibilities include providing support as a surgical first assistant in the operating room, dependent inpatient rounding, and ambulatory clinic care. A candidate will collect and document data, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and consultations, and provide direct patient care services. They will join a growing team of Urologic Oncologists/Urologists and APPs that pride themselves in working and collaborating equitably. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Patient population: Urologic surgical oncology (primary), general urology (secondary).  
  • Inpatient care
    • First-assistant in the OR (robot, laparoscopic, open cases).  
    • Rounding on patients in the acute post-operative phase who are admitted to the hospital
    • Post-operative wound care and pain management
    • Timely collaboration with consulting physicians
    • Coordinating discharges from the hospital
    • Evaluation of new consults. 
  • Outpatient Care: evaluates new and existing patients in collaboration with staff physicians, as well as a multidisciplinary team, completes outpatient documentation in a timely fashion, and performs clinic procedures as applicable.  
  • Hours: Monday – Friday 
  • Shared night and weekend call: home call for service during the week, and weekend call with inpatient rounding and OR coverage for emergency cases.
