About Me

I was born just north of Columbus, Ohio, and moved around a lot growing up. After finishing my training, I moved to Jacksonville in 2003 to help grow the cardiac program at Wolfson Children's Hospital. I have 3 children with whom I share a love of all things outdoors, especially camping, canoeing and SCUBA.

I went into pediatrics because, during my medical school rotations, the pediatric patients always seemed to be the happiest, even though their needs were so great. The children always kept seeing the best of things and seemed to be so positive. I decided that I wanted to help them overcome their medical problems so that they could go on to live full and rich lives. During my residency, I decided to pursue pediatric cardiology because I enjoy cardiovascular physiology and the acuity that comes with defects of the heart. Having gone through a health crisis with one of my own kids, I have a special empathy for parents going through the struggles of watching their own children's health battles. The patients and their parents get my complete and undivided attention.
