Baptist Behavioral Health offers a focused parent training model of ABA in which clinicians work with the parents and the child to teach skills and change behaviors.
How does ABA therapy work?
In applied behavior analysis, a clinician works with a patient to understand and modify behaviors. ABA uses positive reinforcement to increase desired behaviors and decrease problem behaviors that may interfere with function and learning.
Why choose Baptist Health?
Our outpatient ABA model focuses on helping educate the parent as well as the child. Parents participate in every session with their child and receive 1-2 hours of training each week. Our focused parent training model allows the parent and clinician to work together to choose 2-3 specific behaviors to target during the sessions.
Is ABA right for your child?
Our parent focused model can benefit a variety of patients:
- Patients on a long wait list for comprehensive ABA services.
- Patents who attend school full time but parents have concerns about behavior and skills at home.
- Patients who have specific needs targeting 2-3 missing skills such as communication, daily living, social or play skills.
- School age patients who need help socializing with others such as understanding social cues, making friends and reciprocating during conversations.
