Heart patients can get rehab right here on the island

Baptist Nassau’s new, spacious center has an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, along with physical, occupational and speech therapists. The program is conducted in a group setting for encouragement and camaraderie. During each supervised session, patients’ heart rate, blood pressure and EKG are continuously monitored. Patients are re-assessed at each session for signs and symptoms of cardiac issues as well as medication compliance.

Education is a large part of the cardiac rehab program. Patients are educated on their personal risk factors for heart disease and dealing with the emotional ups and downs of recovery. Physicians, dietitians, nurses and clinical exercise physiologists all work together to provide an individual treatment plan for each patient.

The center is located on the main hospital campus in Medical Office Building B. For more information, please call 904-321-3870.
